In praise of The Tyee

I know I’m late to the game on this one, but The Tyee has rapidly become a permanent daily visit. I’d like to highlight a couple of their recent stories:

Vancouver Election Spending Out of Control: Wherein we learn just how much a banana-republic Vancouver is. Fun factoid: $30 per voter was spent during the 2005 election. Only $10 per voter was spent in the 2004 U.S. Presidential – itself widely criticized as the most extravagant in history. We also learn just how hollow right-wing accusations of public service unions involving themselves politically really is. Their contributions are drops in the bucket.

Vancouver Eats it’s Young: As the next-generation of Vancouverites are priced out of their own city, Vancouver rapidly risks becoming a preserve of the rich, a fact which does not bode well for long-term sustainability.
